The New Corporation: The Unfortunately Necessary Sequel is a 2020 Canadian documentary film, directed by Joel Bakan and Jennifer Abbott.[2] A sequel to the influential 2003 film The Corporation, the film profiles new developments in the political and social power of corporations since the release of the original.
Critical response:
Writing for Now and The Georgia Straight, Norman Wilner reviewed the film positively, stating that "There’s not a lot of new information here, but the organization is thoughtful and pointed, summing up two decades of immoral, destructive conduct by businesses whose CEOs understand that any fines that might be levied against them for their actions are worth paying, given the massive profits those actions will create. And yes, this furious anti-corporate documentary counts Rogers and Bell among its production partners. That’s 2020 for you."
Michael Vecchio of Exclaim! was more dismissive, writing that "while the nefarious actions of the corporate world remain as devious as ever, knowledge of their conduct has become more mainstream, and so it is not so much that what this sequel is presenting is not important, but rather that it hardly gives viewers any new insight. Indeed, the question does arise; is this sequel really as necessary as its title claims?"

HOW THE ACT OF 1871 WAS MISUNDERSTOOD: Amateur legal theorists claim that the Act of 1871 converted the entire United States of America into a private, for-profit "corporation". But, this is not so. The Act of 1871 merely created a "CITY GOVERNMENT" for THE "CITY of Washington D.C.". Nothing more. The term "MUNICIPAL corporation" appears in the Act, but this term only means a publicly-owned, non-profit CITY GOVERNMENT, not a private, for profit corporation. The term "body corporate" also appears in the act, but this term only means that the new CITY GOVERNMENT can enter into contracts and sue and be sued in its own name. This term does not mean a private, for-profit corporation. The Act of 1871 did not (and could not) convert the entire United States of America itself into a private, for-profit corporation. It would take an amendment to the United States Constitution to do that, because acts of congress are INFERIOR to the Constitution and the Constitution controls the structure and form of the United States of America. An act of congress is legally powerless to convert the United States into a private, for-profit corporation. There is nothing about the Act of 1871 which has any effect whatsoever on the United States of America itself. But, amateur legal theorists do not know enough to even realize this. The entire premise of this call to arms against the evil agendas of corporations seems to be based on the flawed belief that the government is free of corruption and can act in the best interests of the population. IF "government" was NOT a thick tentacle of the same leviathan from which the despised tentacle "corporatocracy" grew, then this would be true. It is not, however. And more and more people are finally beginning to dive deep into the murky depths that surround the many waving tentacles to find that the source of it all is a single beast hiding beneath the silt and sand.
